ABOUT AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MICROBIOLOGY

The American Society for Microbiology is the oldest and largest single life science membership organization in the world. Membership has grown from 59 scientists in 1899 to more than 39,000 members today, with more than one third located outside the United States. The members represent a wide range of specialization from basic research in the microbial sciences to applied research in clinical labs and industry as well as microbiology education. ASM books and journals are among the most prominent publications in the field, delivering up-to-date and authoritative coverage of both basic and clinical microbiology.
